The production of such a top-tier game is inseparable from high-precision motion capture. Leyard·Virtual Moving Point, leveraging its spatial computing technology - OptiTrack optical positioning capture, has contributed significantly to the making of "Black Myth: Wukong."

Wearing a phoenix-feathered purple-gold crown, clad in golden chain mail, stepping on lotus-root silk cloud-stepping shoes, wielding the will-following golden-hooped staff, "Black Myth: Wukong" presents players with a dreamlike journey to the West, through its exquisitely realistic graphics and over 80 boss-level monsters. As a flagship work of domestic gaming, this 3A-grade game (a term referring to games that consume "a large amount of money, resources, and time" in development) has garnered immense anticipation from players, marking a significant step forward in quality and innovation for domestic games and ushering in a new era for domestic 3A games.


This time, Leyard·Virtual Moving Point provided professional spatial computing and positioning capture technical support to the game's production team. By scanning real temples, Buddha statues, forests, rocks, etc., the game created realistic objects, buildings, and landscapes, which, combined with ray tracing technology, produced human-like graphics and visuals. Through motion capture, we recorded real people's expressions, body postures, and movement details 1:1, quickly reconstructing 2D images into 3D, and accurately identifying and calculating marker points' centroid data. The feedback system then drove the animation characters in real-time, ensuring seamless interaction with virtual characters in the game.


Compared to traditional game production, traditional tracing often fails to capture intricate details due to complex movements, resulting in distorted characters. Take Tianmingren (a fictional character) as an example; it is one of the most important and challenging characters to realize in "Black Myth: Wukong." Balancing its distinctive features with overall stylistic unity, creating a vivid and agile image of Sun Wukong was paramount. Leyard·Virtual Moving Point's OptiTrack optical motion capture system achieves precision errors of less than +/-0.1mm, rotational errors of +/-0.1 degrees, and a minimum latency of 2.8ms. This technology precisely captures every movement of actors and translates them into game character animations, encompassing basic movements like walking, running, jumping, attacking, and defending, to more complex actions like climbing and swimming. It boasts advantages such as high precision, low latency, vast spatial coverage, and real-time spatial positioning and tracking.


From "Call of Duty," "NBA 2K," to "The Witcher," "Sifu," and now "Black Myth: Wukong," Leyard·Virtual Moving Point's pursuit of spatial computing has never ceased.
